From a Small Town in Brazil to Global Opportunities in Vancouver

My name is Mateus Bini Baumgart, but you can call me Matthew. I come from Água Boa, a small Brazilian town of just 20,000 people. After finishing high school in 2024, I realized I wanted more—I wanted to explore the world, learn new cultures, and build an international career. That journey led me to choose International Business at Canadian College in Vancouver.

Why Canadian College?

I didn’t pick a college randomly. My aunt had studied at Canadian College and couldn’t stop praising the clear teaching, supportive staff, and welcoming atmosphere. After being here for four months, I can confidently say she was spot on. The professors are top-notch, the team genuinely cares, and whenever I needed help, Fabio, our Brazilian Marketing Director, was always ready to assist.

More Than One Path in Business

One of my favorite things about Canadian College is how many pathways they offer into business careers:

  • Business Management Diploma with Co-op (18 months) — Combines core business skills with a nine-month paid co-op, giving you real work experience in administration, HR, marketing, finance, and operations.

  • Business Management Certificate & Co-op (12 months) — An accelerated option that still includes six months of co-op, great if you want to move quickly and gain hands-on experience.

  • Business Administration Certificate (12 weeks) — A short, focused program that introduces you to business, marketing, and accounting basics.

  • International Business Certificate — Integrates FITT curriculum for international trade preparedness, ideal for students aspiring to careers in global business.

There’s something here whether you want to dive deep, get a fast start, or build an international business foundation.

Life in Vancouver

Living in Vancouver has been an adventure. I’ve made friends from Japan, Korea, India, Thailand, and beyond. The city’s diversity is incredible. I’ve explored stunning places like the Capilano Suspension Bridge, gone whale-watching in summer, and sampled cuisines from around the world. Vancouver isn’t just where I study—it’s where I’m growing into the person I want to become.

My Advice to Future Students

If you’re thinking about studying abroad, here’s my raw, simple advice: be brave. Don’t just stay in your room—step out, make friends, and dive into everything Vancouver and Canadian College have to offer.
